Jon D’Agostino came to Nashville ten years ago with a love of music in his heart and passion for songwriting in his blood. He grew up in New York City during the 60s, 70s, & 80s and can remember his earliest music influences coming from his own home where his father would be playing and singing the Sinatra standards, along with Motown classics, while his older sister was always playing songs from The Beatles and The Doors. “There was something about those songs that was so simple and yet so unique that they become known as standards and classics. You just knew you'd be singing and dancing to them for the rest of your life.”
Jon currently lives in New Jersey and spends a week each month at his condo and office in Nashville. He started DEMOLITION MUSIC PUBLISHING LLC with two missions in mind – 1) To help talented songwriters get their songs placed and cut and 2) to foster the writing of songs that got Jon into wanting to be a songwriter to begin with. “Billy Joel said it best when he said ‘there are two types of music – the kind that sounds good and the kind that doesn’t.’ and I really do appreciate any well written song. I just get concerned when I turn on the radio and the hits start sounding cookie cutter identical. I’m on a mission to bring back the substance to commercial country songs. 90% of what’s on the radio is ear candy and we all need ear candy when dealing with our day to day, BUT I want to level the percentages a bit and help bring back the story song, the emotional ballad, the ones that rip your heart out and not just the ones that make you wanna party.”
“Why the name Demolition? My father was a bulldozer operator who specialized in demolition and excavation. He tore down the old so that new stronger generations of buildings could be built. Demolition Music Publishing LLC is a tribute to my dad, and our Demolition Team of writers, song-pluggers and assistants plans to build a catalogue of songs that will last for generations to come.”
